About JBILT

The Journal of Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching (JBILT) is a peer-reviewed scholarly and practitioner journal dedicated to the advancement of teaching and learning in block and intensive mode delivery. The journal seeks to publish high-quality contributions that promote experiential learning, enhance pedagogical practice, and advance academic scholarship in the field.

The journal is published by IBILTA, The International Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching Association.

JBILT is currently inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to join its panel of reviewers. All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic integrity and the highest standards of scholarly excellence.

MISSION
The mission of JBILT is to publish best scholarship and practice in the field of block and intensive learning and teaching.

The Journal of Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching (JBILT) makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of the content contained in its publications. Facts and opinions in articles published in JBILT are solely the personal statements of respective authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Journal, the editors, the editorial board or the International Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching Association (IBILTA). Authors are responsible for all content in their article(s) including accuracy of the facts and statements, citation of resources, etc. The Journal of Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching and its Editors disclaim any liability for violations of other parties’ rights, or any damage incurred consequently from use or application of any of the contents of JBILT. The editors consider in good faith that authors have full permission to publish every part of the submitted material(s) including illustrations.
Where appropriate, the submitted article should indicate whether the research has undergone an ethics approval process within the author(s) institution. All research must adhere to the NHMRC National Statement on Ethics and the Australian Association for Research Education Statement of Ethics. Any instances of research malpractice will be considered in relation to these guidelines. Under no circumstances will the Editors encourage misconduct, or knowingly publish papers where misconduct has occurred. Should the Editors be made aware of allegations of misconduct they will take appropriate steps to remove the publication and investigate the allegations in accordance with NHMRC Guidelines – this includes reporting the matter to the institution(s) of the lead author(s) and working with the Human Ethics Committee of the relevant institution(s) to investigate the allegation. In accordance with the NHMRC guidelines a minor oversight will be subject to correction and noted as a corrected version. Significant breaches will result in the removal of the paper from the journal record and a retraction notice recoded in lieu.

JBILT AI USE STATEMENT

The Journal of Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching (JBILT) supports transparent and ethically responsible use of generative AI tools in scholarly publishing. Authors may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve clarity and language but must disclose the use of these tools and remain accountable for all content. AI tools cannot be designated or given credit as authors, and reviewers must not use AI during the peer review process. This policy follows the JBILT journal's commitment to ethical publishing, academic integrity, and scholarship produced by humans.

JBILT GENERATIVE AI POLICY
1. Use of Generative AI by Authors
a. Authors can use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Bard) only to enhance language clarity and readability
b. AI-generated content must be reviewed and edited by the author, who remains responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the work
c. Disclosure is mandatory. Authors must disclose the use of any AI tools and include a statement in the preface of their submission which specifies the AI tool used, the purpose of the AI tool usage, and the extent of the contribution of the AI tool
2. Authorship
a. Generative AI tools cannot be designated, given credited, or listed as authors or co-authors
b. Authorship usually includes being ethically responsible for the work (e.g., AI should not be used to alter reviews, fabricate citations, or misrepresent results), being accountable for the content (original and accurate content), and making decisions—characteristics that only humans usually possess
3. Confidential Peer Review
a. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or parts of manuscripts into Generative AI tools, as this may violate data privacy and anonymity of the review
b. The peer-review process of the journal is a human-guided process to ensure the integrity of the scholarly work
4. AI-Generated Figures and Images
a. AI-generated visual renderings, such as images and figures, are not permitted unless they are a part of the research methodology and are explained in the context of the method
b. Authors must keep and provide original (unaltered) versions of any images or figures that are requested by the journal

Note: During the manuscript review process, editors and reviewers may use AI detection tools to examine compliance with the journal AI policies. Non-disclosure may result in rejection or retraction of a submission.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Publication Frequency
The Journal of Block and Intensive Learning and Teaching is published biannually, with a dedicated conference issue released mid-year. The journal offers an efficient and timely review process, ensuring a short turnaround period for accepted submissions.

Open Access Policy
This journal adheres to an immediate open access policy, grounded in the belief that unrestricted access to scholarly research fosters broader global knowledge exchange. Authors are not required to pay any fees for submission, acceptance, or publication of manuscripts.
