Abstract

An average teaching day, or week, or term, can go by with children having touched on so many topics but barely having had the opportunity to explore anything. The primary curriculum is both overcrowded and shallow. Engulfed by the need to 'tick off' on numeracy and literacy requirements, teachers are left too time poor to develop a deep curriculum and the necessary teaching and learning environments and strategies.
